Hebrews 12:1-3

Holy Week: Wednesday

Walking towards the cross…how are your thoughts towards Jesus?

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.

Do you see the witnesses that the author of Hebrews writes about?

Imagine this crowd of witnesses. Will you? In chapter eleven of Hebrews (Hall of Faith) the names of famous Biblical heroes are listed—Abraham, Moses, Noah, Sarah, Isaac, Rahab,–but you have your own list that can encourage you to STRIP OFF what is consuming you today—distractions, temptations, SIN, —–YIKES.

This week is for vigor and no weariness. It is for endurance in your journey. Christ did it all for us.

“….These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.” Hebrews 11:39,40

Don’t give up…many have gone before you. Walking towards the cross we can count on God saving us. We have witnesses.

“Surely this man was the Son of God!” (Centurion)
