Aren’t we all in perpetual motion of looking back and going forward? Which one are you leaning into now?
We all must look back to know our history and how to avoid the landmines that may be in our path. However, future is begging us to come into its arena, and how we arrive is up to us.
What shall you wear for this trip that advances forward? Gym shoes or house shoes? Bare feet? However we advance, it must be forward.
But Jesus said to him, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
If we look behind too often, we may become like Lot’s wife (Genesis 19) and turn into a pillar of salt. In Jewish literature, she is named Edith.
Genesis 19:26 ESV /
“But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.”
Let’s look forward to what God has in store for us today, tomorrow…and pray to seek His face…then His hand.
Pray a psalm today. “Psalms trains us in a conversion of language, from talking about God to talking to God.” (Eugene Peterson, Answering God)
